  Cytarabin is also called cytrarabin;Cytosine β-D-arabinofuranoside ,an organic compound with the chemical formula C9H13N3O5, clinically used mainly as a pyrimidine antimetabolite in the proliferative phase of cell S. It interferes with cell proliferation by inhibiting cellular DNA synthesis.

Function of Cytarabin 

Cytarabin is a pyrimidine antimetabolite that interferes with cell proliferation by inhibiting cellular DNA synthesis during the S-phase of cell proliferation. It is a cell cycle-specific drug, and is most sensitive to the effects of cells in the S proliferative phase, but weakly inhibits RNA and protein synthesis.
